When I was growing up, it was pretty challenging to find Hanukkah decorations. But, like the might of the Macabees (from which the Hanukkah story is based) we would NOT be deterred!
My sister and I would color and paint, and bedazzle paper rings, paper banners, giant dreidels, and colorful menorahs all over the house until it was covered in Hanukkah Happiness!
And I think, from those roots of do-it-yourself décor, a whole new world of beautiful Hanukkah Haute Décor has evolved…like those found at the new online Hanukkah boutique Peace Love and Light.
They curate exquisite artisanal Hanukkah décor-everything from hand-lettered wall art to pillows, table tops, and my favorite…wood framed chalk-board menorahs that are pieces of art unto themselves!
But how can you easily navigate so many choices?
Well, let’s go through your space as it relates to each area of decor.

How to Achieve Family-Friendly Haute Hanukkah Décor
Number 1: Wall Art

Tips for Decorating with Wall Art
Do you have a lot of walls that have extra space?
Wall Art Decorating Tip #1: Use Mess-Free Removable Hooks
If so, Wall Art might be a perfect option. You can easily hang holiday decor by using mess-free and easily removable command hooks. Try this one-it’s one of my favorite variety packs.

Wall Art Decorating Tip #2: Capture the Season in Song
Like most holidays, so much of the special sentimentality of the day is captured in song.
I love how so many of the Peace Love and Light prints are hand-lettered quotes lifted from favorite Hanukkah songs. It just lends such a festive feel and brings the whole holiday to life!

And can we just stop and marvel at these two beautiful creations for a minute?
These are a must-have for all Jewish snow bunnies on your list.
I love this whimsical, hand-lettered snowflake that says ““Sparkling…glistening…opulent…”

And this “Eight Special Nights“print that spells out “Colorful candles, burning bright, each lit on eight very special nights.”

Number 2: Garlands
Tips for Decorating with Garlands
If you don’t have many walls, like in my house (we have a very open concept floor plan), then garlands might be a great option for you.
Garlands can be hung from doorways, the mantel, stairway banisters, and even just scalloped from two points on the ceiling.
Can you tell I’ve had experience with this?

Creating garlands was one of our favorite ways to decorate our house. My sister and I would create giant banners and string them in every room, in doorways, and along the staircase banister.
Now, as a mom, I still love to decorate with banners. And I love the on-trend options available from Peace, Light, and Love.

Number 3: Decorate with Pillows
Tips for Decorating with Pillows
If you don’t want to hang anything, pillows might be the perfect way to make the holidays pop!
You literally just need a chair or a couch and everyone has one of those!
Adding festive pillows to your décor can dramatically transform your room from every day to holiday.
I love adding festive pillows to my living room, it’s so simple –you don’t need to hang anything, you don’t need to tape anything, you don’t need anything… except a couch.

And finally….the Piece de Resistance of Peace, Love, and Light….
Drum Roll please….
Number 4: The Chalkboard Menorah!
Tips for Family-Friendly Decorating
And finally…get the kids involved in the decor. Add something whimsical and kid-friendly that the little ones can get involved with.
We received a complimentary chalkboard menorah to review and we were so excited. My girls love anything crafty, so they couldn’t wait to get their hands on the chalkboard menorah.
Before you use it, you need to “prime it.” I’ll admit, this had me pretty nervous. I was a bit worried I would mess it up and then the chalk wouldn’t show up and the whole thing would be ruined, but seriously it was sooo simple—I had my little 4 year old niece help.
Just take a piece of chalk—roll it all over, then wipe it off with a dry cloth. DONE!
Then it was time to get coloring.
Isn’t that fun?
