Hi, I’m Shana Lourie Sutton. My friends sometimes call me ShanaLou for short.
I live just outside Boulder, CO with my husband, Scott, and our two girls (adoringly referred to as #SuttonSisters) ages 8 and 10. We love to explore the Rocky Mountains as well as other family destinations throughout the East Coast (where I’m from). We’re always up for a road trip and love to share our adventures and lessons learned along with you.
I’ve been blogging for 13 years and my writing has been featured on Huffington Post, Blogher, and Today Show, for which I am a Top Parenting Team Contributor.
I’m also a breast cancer survivor, so my mission is to help myself, my family, and my readers find balance, joy | fun, and strength in the chaos of everyday.

When deep down—we just want to have some extra time to enjoy those simple little moments, right?

I LOVE crafts and being creative. But I’m no Martha Stewart.
If I come across a craft or recipe that’s a total #PinterestFail, I’ll be honest. I’ll show you what I did wrong and how to improve it next time…like when I tried to make a Thanksgiving Fruit Salad Turkey and it turned into a fruit Octopus. (yeah, not my best moment) But-Lesson learned ,and I passed all my new tips on to you, my Dear Reader.
I like to find creative solutions to life’s everyday problems—Solutions that not only SOLVE THE PROBLEM itself but also ADD MORE FUN and JOY to your life. Like FUN solutions to stop sibling squabbles—Whaat?? Yes, it’s true!, or Genius ways to motivate kids when hiking, or Creative Ways to keep kids safe at theme parks, or super fun ways to give kids ownership of their space during long car rides—(bonus-it results in less mess!)
Family Fun Through Imagination
We love to live everyday with imagination. You can read more about how this came to be in my article for the Today Parenting Community. I was inspired by my dad who would take us on mystery trips and turn every ordinary experience into something magical. So now as a mom, I try to do the same for my family.
And I can’t help but continue to be inspired everyday by my love for Disney.
Fun Fact: In college, I participated in the Walt Disney World College Program for two summers! And my husband and I both ran the Disney World Half Marathon.
