How to Make Buddy the Elf Snowball Dough

This fun Buddy the Elf Snowball Dough is inspired by that exciting snowball fight scene in the classic holiday movie“ Elf.” This is a great holiday craft (and sensory activity) to do with the kids. It’s super easy and smells amazing!   Welcome back to Day 5 of the 2020 Festive Christmas Ideas event! Now, I’m going to be honest—this was not an easy task—creating a craft from our favorite Christmas movie. If you know me, you know how much I love  happy, heartwarming Christmas movies. In fact, a couple years ago, I wrote a whole post about how impossible it is to pick just 5. So I Ranked my Top 15 in different categories.

How to Make Buddy the Elf Snowball Dough

We just love Elf. It’s one of those favorite Holiday Classics that the whole family can watch over and over again and never get tired. And one of my kids’ favorite scenes is that hilarious Snowball Fight scene in Central Park.

How Snowball Dough helps with Mindfulness and Sensory Play

I decided to create some Snowball Dough to help them bring some of that movie magic home. Not only is this dough super fun to play with but it’s also great for mindfulness and sensory play. We added a few drops of peppermint essential oil which is known for both calming and uplifting.

Supplies

• 1 cup flour
• ½ cup salt
• 3 tablespoons cream of tartar
• 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
• ½ cup boiling water
• 5 drops of peppermint essential oil
• Optional: glitter

Steps

• Mix the flour, salt, cream of tartar in a large bowl.
• Next, add 1 tablespoon vegetable oil.
• Mix well.
• Then add ½ cup of boiling water and mix everything very well.
• Once the dough is well mixed, get in there with your hands and knead the dough to really smooth it out.
• Finally, add your glitter. Knead again and you’re done.
