If you read any of my #CookoutWeek2018 posts from this past summer, then you’ll know that I’m a big fan of Barlean’s natural foods. Remember, how I used their butter flavored coconut oil in my S’mores Edible Cookie dough? Mmmmmm sooooo gooooood!
You can’t even taste the coconut-it’s such a great alternative to traditional butter.
Barlean’s Chocolate Silk Greens Powder
Well, this time around, I was asked to choose either the Butter Flavored Coconut Oil OR their Chocolate Silk Greens Powder. I really couldn’t decide so I decided to do some quick research.
What is the Chocolate Silk Greens Powder?
• Delicious superfood loaded with antioxidants from fair-trade cocoa and nutrients from more than a dozen fruits and veggies
• Non-GMO, Gluten Free, Soy Free, Dairy Free, Vegan
• Contains natural plant fiber from chicory and flaxseed
Although I’m a big fan of trying anything all-natural, I was a little hesitant to try the Greens Powder. Powder supplements can be tricky. So often they’re grainy or chalky, other times they have a weird aftertaste. And even more often, they have a bland flavor and you end up having to doctor the heck out of them.
Since I wasn’t familiar with Barlean’s Chocolate Silk Green Powder, I went over to Amazon and checked out the reviews. I was pleased to see that everyone said it had a GREAT TASTE and NO GRAINY TEXTURE. So I decided to go ahead and give it a try.
And BOY AM I HAPPY I DID!
The Silk Greens Powder is smooth and velvety with a rich chocolate flavor.
You can add it straight to your milk (no blending necessary), and it tastes amazing!
It’s a great way to sneak extra veggies and nutrients in for your kids or even yourself.
But that’s not all you can do with it, you can add it to your coffee, or granola and yogurt, or even….Chia Seed Pudding…like I did!

I am soo excited about this recipe because not only is it absolutely delicious but it’s also very healthy. This is great as an on-the-go breakfast or as a rich, chocolatey afternoon snack.
I used a mason jar with this lid that doesn’t rust so it would be more portable.
If you’re not familiar with Chia Seeds, they are a super food that is very high in antioxidants, high in fiber, low in calories and a good source of sustainable energy. They need to be soaked in water for at least 2 hours, and when they’re done you’ll see they’ve formed a gel-which is perfect to thicken smoothies or use as pudding.
