How to Make Vampire Apple Bites
These Vampire Apple bites are fiendishly good and easy to make. Made from apples and nut butter, they’re a healthy, kid-friendly snack. My kids loved making them! I also include a tip to turn them into footballs.
My daughter is on a big cookbook kick these days. Every time she has media center day at school, she brings home another cookbook. I’ve actually found that I like this new habit because the recipes are always super fun and easy to make.
This week, she brought home a ghoulishly fun cookbook all about monster themed recipes. We couldn’t resist making these Vampire bites. They were super yummy and we had a great time making them.
Here’s a quick video of us in action. (In the video, we were calling them monster bites).
How to Make Apple Vampire Bites
(Scroll to the end for a printable recipe card.)
Ingredients:
- A couple apples-preferably red so they look like lips. If you use green, then you can just pretend they’re green vampires or green monster lips. (The number of apples needed depends on how many Vampire Bites you’re going to make. A medium apple usually yields around 4 Vampire Bites)
- Nut butter of your choice
- Sliced almonds
Instructions:
Step 1: Slice your apples into wedges.
Step 2: Spread nut butter on the flat side of your apple.
We used regular peanut butter and then chocolate peanut butter which made these extra tasty.
(We even combined both kinds on some of the bites and it looked extra scary!)
Step 3: Add another apple wedge to close the mouth.
We had the apple skin face outward for the top apple slice so it would like lips. For the bottom slice we did the opposite so it would look like the mouth was open.)
Step 4: Add the two almond slices for the fangs.
Enjoy!
Bonus Tip: Add extra almond slices and Voila—you’ve got a football!
Don’t the almonds look like football laces?
