This summer, my daughter discovered a fabulous strawberry drink at our favorite breakfast place. Every…
This drink is inspired by something that I had the bartender create during my famous Girls Night evening last fall. Due to my chemo I couldn’t drink alcohol, so I asked the bartender to make me a nonalcoholic version of one of the strawberry based cocktails they had on the menu. The bartender was not very accommodating and told me he didn’t know how. Well, I wasn’t going to let this lazy fool keep me away from a fabulous mocktini. So I just invented my own, directing him to whip me up something with a cranberry juice base, some seltzer for bubbly pizzazz and the strawberry and basil that I knew they had on the menu. He obliged and voila, my deliciously refreshing Strawberry Basil Bubbly was born!
The moral of the story is to not let uncreative trolls prevent you from enjoying beautiful, festive beverages. There is always room for fun mocktails–you don’t have to settle for soda or water.
- Take 2 Parts cranberry juice to 1 part seltzer water
- Then take a handful of strawberries and a few leaves of basil. Muddle together and add to the cranberry/seltzer.
- Garnish with a sprig of basil and enjoy!
