This past weekend, my husband and I were very fortunate to be invited to the…
Toasting Music – “I Run for Life,” I run for wellness, and I run to achieve my goals
Last month, I attended the SITS Girls Bloggy Bootcamp.
I knew it would feature a cornucopia of great lessons for successful blogging, but what I didn’t expect were the lessons and pieces of wisdom related to female empowerment. It was so inspiring; I’m still riding the wave of motivation almost a month later.
One of my favorite quotes from the conference was “know your end game.”
We all make goals. And then we get busy and overtaken with daily stresses of life and our goals sometimes seem to slip away. OR worse yet, we sometimes forget what our REAL goal is. But what I learned at the conference was…
Think about your end game goals and work backwards (plan from that point).
Make your everyday goals/decisions based on that. Of course! That’s brilliant!
I was thinking about this when I decided on today’s Toasting Music selection, and it made me think of Melissa Etheridge’s “I Run for Life.”
This amazingly positive upbeat song has always been a staple in my workout playlist. (I cannot even begin to run if I don’t have this song playing.) And there is nothing more powerful than hearing it played on the loud speaker at a Breast Cancer Awareness race. But now, as a breast cancer survivor, this song is even more meaningful because I am literally running for life.
If you listen to this song, running can also be seen as a metaphor for whatever you are a passionate about.
My personal end game goal is the ability to spend more time with my girls and my husband and my family. I know to do this, I need to make daily decisions that will enable me to do this. I need to stay healthy (but don’t we all?) –I need to exercise regularly, I need to eat well, I need to get enough sleep (huh? what’s that?), and I need to have a job that allows me the flexibility to be with my girls more.
Think about your end goal (owning your own business, owning an island!!! Yes! or maybe even just having more time with family) and make achieving that goal part of your everyday routine.
Make it…your run for life!
Please join me as I toast music, making our dreams a reality, and finding a cure for breast cancer. I’d love to hear how you follow your goals or even what this song means to you. Please leave me a comment below. Cheers!
