One of our favorite summer movies is Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer. This year, my rising 3rd grader decided to read it. She’s super into Judy Moody books right now. And as a reward for doing a great job on her summer reading list, I decided to throw a little Big Foot Festival for my girls.
I found this amazing cake idea online and thought OMG! I have to try and make it!
So I bought these Big Foot cookie cutters from Amazon.
And got 2 packs of cake mix to make things a little easier since this was going to be an involved process.
In the end, the hidden Big Foot Characters didn’t show up and it turned into a chocolate marble cake. I was really disappointed.
However, it did taste Pretty Amazing.
Just look at this delicious ooey gooey chocolate yumminess!
My family and our friends, with whom we shared it, all said I HAVE TO ADD THIS to my blog…it may not have turned out as a Big Foot cake, but it was certainly a darn good marble cake.
In fact, this is what our friends said
It tasted like a soft, buttery, fluffy pillow of deliciousness!!!
So, without further adieu, I bring you My Vanilla Brownie Marble Cake.
How to Make Fluffy and Delicious Vanilla Brownie Marble Cake
Ingredients:
For the Brownie Loaf
- 1 Box Brownie Mix (I recommend using a mix that contains chocolate chips for extra chocolate goodness. I used the Brownie Mix from Trader Joes)
- 2 eggs
- 1 stick of melted butter (1/2 cup)
For the Vanilla Cake
- 1 Box Vanilla Cake Mix (I used the Vanilla Cake Mix from Trader Joes and it was so fluffy!)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 stick of melted butter (1/2 cup)
- 1 cup of cold milk
Instructions:
- Make the brownie mix in a loaf pan.
- After it’s cooled, slice the loaf into pieces. Set aside.
- Make the vanilla cake mix.
- Pour some into the well-greased Bundt pan to cover the bottom.
- Next, take the brownie slices and add them to the Bundt pan.
- Finally, pour the rest of the vanilla cake batter into the Bundt pan.
- Bake according to the directions on the box.
- Let the cake cool then slice and enjoy!

Mmm….look how moist it is! So buttery and flavorful with fun pops of chocolate!
As you can see, NONE of the cookie cutter shapes came out. I’m not sure if they slid /fell over during the baking process or what, but you can’t discern their shape at all. I even cut them horizontally across the top to see if I could find any shapes, but it was just swirly chocolate.
But that’s ok—now I know how to make a delicious, moist, fluffy, and buttery marble cake and that’s pretty good too.
Everyone gobbled it up—it was a big hit among everyone….including the dog!!!
I accidentally left it on the table after taking this picture and came back to find it completely gone, which reminded me of that scene from the Fancy Nancy book “Fancy Nancy and the Delectable Cupcakes” where she makes cupcakes for school and her dog eats them!
I thought that was the perfect ending to our Book-inspired cake!!!
They say Art imitates Life….but here we have Life imitating art!
