The first Toasting Tuesdays post is here. My goal of Toasting Tuesdays is to carve…
Toasting Tuesdays October 17, 2017: Why I Believe in Unicorns
Welcome back to another Toasting Tuesdays, where we toast each other and our small wins of the week. It’s a way of finding gratitude in the little things in life and a place to spur that inner peace.
This week, I’m toasting Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the ability to Believe.
Believe in yourself.
Believe in wonder.
Believe in “Big Magic,” like author Elizabeth Gilbert.
Believe in unicorns.
And…Believe in a cure for breast cancer.
Like this? Pin it and read it again later!
My daughters have been begging and begging me to help them decorate the yard for Halloween.
But as a breast cancer survivor and someone who’s faced death head on, I kinda have a thing about not wanting zombies and monsters, and dead and undead creatures around me.
I’m sure you can understand.
I’m really more of a frilly happy little clouds, pretty flowers, and magical unicorns kinda girl at this stage in my life.
Me: Can’t we just paint all our pumpkins pink? Combine Halloween and Breast Cancer Awareness month?
My girls: Mom! That’s not scary or Halloweeny!
Me thinking to myself: Umm…breast cancer is pretty damn scary. (But, of course, I couldn’t say this to my 5 and 7 year old. I’m NOT A MONSTER. Remember, I’m sweet like a UNICORN…and then it hit me….
Unicorns!
Unicorns are great for Halloween. And unicorns are great for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Unicorns are the gateway to imagination and wonder and belief in what can seem like the impossible. Like Believing in a Cure for Breast Cancer.
They let you BELIEVE in the impossible.
They let you feel free to access your inner ideas.
They let you see hope.
They let you see magic.
They let you see wonder.
They let you BELIEVE in you.
In Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear Elizabeth Gilbert says “The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them.”
She’s referring to creativity, finding that spark, that story, that innovation that will make an impact on the world or maybe even just make you smile.

Why I Love Unicorns
And this is why I love unicorns. This is why I BELIEVE in unicorns.
By believing in unicorns, you’re believing in the impossible. You can see the impossible and turn it into a reality.
This is one of the biggest lessons I want to bestow upon my children—We believe in unicorns so my kids can see all the possibilities within themselves. Click To Tweet
And this is why my theme for Halloween 2017 is a unicorn themed “Believe in a Cure.”
I’ve created a printable for it. Click here to download your copy for FREE. (You’ll receive both 8 1/2 X 11 images).
But in the meantime, I hope you’ll participate in my Technotini Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge. Visit yesterday’s post for all the prompts! Now over.
And NEVER STOP BELIEVING.
